Teaching

I have a great love for teaching the trumpet and other brass instruments and I make sure that my passion is obvious when I teach. In each lesson, I aim to work with the student on specific areas of their playing; I use a progressive approach which helps the student to develop their tone, their understanding and interpretation of music alongside their confidence on their instrument.

I enjoy teaching classical and jazz trumpet (including improvisation) and encourage all my students to develop a rounded appreciation and love of different musical styles, while acquiring the skills which are needed to play them
Brass instruments are incredibly versatile and can be used in almost any musical setting, classical, jazz and many more – so whatever your goals, whether it is to learn your favourite tunes, have the confidence to join a band, or to prepare for classical or jazz grades, I can provide lessons which will help you to achieve these goals. I teach brass players of all ages and abilities, from absolute beginners, to aspiring musicians and tailor each of my lessons to suit the student.

I currently offer private brass lessons in Leeds, Doncaster and Bradford and I teach in schools throughout Doncaster and Wakefield as well as the Leeds Music Hub.
Whether you are new to the trumpet, you want to restart after a while off, or you would like to learn to play jazz and improvise, please get in touch to arrange a lesson.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Jon.
