Flexus

A few weeks ago, my copy of Flexus arrived in the post. I was keep to get going and looking through it, a few things dawned on me – this book was different from most trumpet method books 1. It was well presented and organised 2. There was loads of varieties of exercise, and 3. There weren’t lots of silly notes written above high C.

It seems that this is a real gem of a book, it takes a mature, pragmatic approach to improving your trumpet playing. Although the book is full of calisthenics all of which aim to improve flexibility, most of the stuff is good fun to play and dare I say it…musical!

Also, it tends to work on multiple aspects of trumpet playing unlike most other ‘method’ books. Granted, this book should be used with maturity and should be used quite sparingly, but so far I feel that this has overhauled my playing.

Let’s hope I continue to reap the benefits of from this book!
