New repertoire

I’ve sent the past few weeks looking for new jazz tunes to perform. I’ve stumbled across two really great tunes which I’m going to start learning right away.
The first is ‘Come Love’ and very simple tune with very straight-forward harmony and melody. The lyrics are also great, they’ve got an element of tongue in cheek about them and it should be a great on to perform. There are some great versions online including ones by Billy Holiday and one of my new of my new discoveries, Andrea Motis. Andrea Motis is a young Spanish jazz player, she sings, plays sax and trumpet too, who’s version you can listen to below.
The next of my tunes is a beautifully romantic standard, ‘Cheek to Cheek’. My favourite version of the song is by trumpet player extraordinaire, Louis Armstrong and the wonderful songstress Ella Fitzgerald. It’s made even more brilliant by the key change half way through when Ella takes the vocals. She comes in on the right note, then I think perhaps doubts herself, doing an unintentional bit of improvising.
